The COVID-19 pandemic continues to show the importance of bringing experts together, exchanging practices and finding shared answers to tackle key public health issues. As a leading organisation in the European healthcare landscape, EHMA appreciates now more than ever how crucial it is to facilitate meaningful and relevant experts exchange. However, EHMA must withhold its responsibility to be an example of excellence in healthcare management and act accordingly to health and safety guidelines to ensure both public health and the well-being of our network. We are respectful of the work done by our members and all healthcare professionals to risk compromising the progress made so far in the containment of COVID-19 through our conference.

For this reason, having carefully revised the latest information offered by local, national and international authorities, and having run consultations among the Members of the EHMA Board, the Conference Hosts, our Members and main stakeholders, we concluded that the only way forward to ensure the safety of everyone is that EHMA 2020 Annual Conference will take place as a digital event.

The EHMA 2020 digital edition will be an incredibly engaging event where the spirit and values of EHMA will come to life!

EHMA will draw upon its extensive experience in running excellent events that facilitate meaningful and relevant multi-stakeholders engagement. EHMA 2020 will be a high-quality event employing the best technology available to provide participants with lively plenary sessions, Q&As, live polling, and interactive networking opportunities that will offer a unique experience for all our delegates. We are certain that a digital event will increase inclusivity and allow participants that may be affected by travel bans or understandably hesitant to travel. EHMA 2020 will provide participants with relevant contents that reflect the current developments in the global health ecosystem. For this reason, we have already published a new call for abstracts specifically focusing on COVID-19 and health management

We want to thank the EHMA Hosts, Erasmus Medical Centre, Erasmus School of Health Policy and Management and The Dutch Ministry of Defence, for the continuous support shown so far to EHMA and our Conference. We also want to thank the city of Rotterdam that would have hosted our Conference. We are sad not to be able to come to such an architectural gem, but we will make sure to provide our delegates with a full experience and show some corners of this beautiful city during our online Conference.

There has never been a more important time for European health systems to come together and we are excited to have you with us for this new great digital experience!
